The distance is 160 kilometres. Or one must take the direct train from Colombo Fort Station going towards Beliaththa and get off at Mirissa on the way.

Because Parrot Rock sits out at sea, you’ll have to research the tides as low tide is the safest time to cross over and you’ll avoid getting wet.

It would be dangerous to cross over during high tide, especially in the monsoon season when the waves are high.

Also another popular cool spot in Mirissa beach is the Coconut Tree Hill. It’s the most popular place to visit in Mirissa among Instagrammers. This small hill is literally covered in coconut trees and makes for a gorgeous photo.

It does get very busy especially during the day. Coconut Hill is the perfect place to watch a sunset in Mirissa. Sunrise is the least busy time, and if you get there around 6.30 am, you could be lucky enough to get Coconut Hill yourself!
